What are the proper techniques for a man to groom his fingernails?

I am a chronic nail-biter who has stopped for about three months. I don’t want to bite my nails anymore, and am thrilled that they are growing. I am just concerned I am not grooming them properly now that I have kicked the habit. What is the best way to do it. Whenever I try to research this topic, it just says “groom your nails” and never gets really detailed. Any help would be good, thanks.
